Hafod
Hi, Almost at my last job before IVA. I am wiring in the Cartek fog light controller into the standard Westfield rocker switch. Does any one have any tips on how to wire it in as the examples on the instruction leaflet are not the same? It has two red inputs from high and low beam, can these be joined and connected to the input to the fog light switch? Thanks
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
Hi Hafod, Was the unit already fitted to your loom or have you bought it afterwards? Have you any instructions/diagrams you can share with me. The latest factory loom diagram shows (the image quality isn't so good) : The two red wires labelled R183 and R182, need to be wired to the respective hi and lo beam feeds, else it doesn't work. I guess the idea is, the fog light can't be switched on unless lo or hi beam is selected. They are shown below : The yellow wire (Y181) is from the Fog light switch and is a momentary signal I hope this helps? If not, come back to me and we'll get it working. Best regards, Ian
Hafod
No it’s a separate unit from Cartek. Here are the instructions I have but the switch is different To the ones in the instructions.
Hafod
Would you use splice connectors?

Si.Dalziel
Extend the 2 reds and attach them into the supplies at the fuses A3 & A4 then you only need to redo the spade connectors at the fuse. that’s how my Westfield wired one was done
Hafod
Plan to use the standard Westfield rocker switch that looks nothing like these. Just 2 pins.
Gary Taylor
If you just have 2 pins on the switch then it is yellow to the input and the other is the feed to the fog light the controller has its feed from the headlight wiring and earth the other black wire has to be unused then test it for correct operation

Just 2 pins. Not sure if that will work as I suspect the fog light controller expects a momentary input to switch the fog on and not a permanent on? You may have to switch it on then off to get it to light.
Si.Dalziel
I put a momentary switch in and the yellow goes to the switch with the other side at earth
etypebernard
I purchased a Cartek switch (cut out is bigger) worked OK. I now have a Westfield pulse switch and 2 pin switch spare. Talk to Cartek nice people who know their products.
CosKev
You dont actually need a fog light controller to pass the IVA with a kit car. As long as you have a tell tale light and the fog light ONLY works with dipped headlights, not side lights,it will pass IVA fine 👍

As long as they're the right size for the gauge of wire (most people just use one size for everything and then wonder why they fail). They're colour coded similar to how bullet/spade crimps are, red for the lower gauge wire's, blue in the middle, and yellow for the heavier gauge stuff. Best to just buy a set.
