Peter Robinson Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 Good afternoon I spent most of the last few weeks rebuilding my steering rack am replacing the upper and lower ball joints only to find the radiator has perished. So I'm looking for a replacement on the cheap 🙂. I have looked as the mk 2 Escort rads but they had a filler cap on top which on a low narrow will not work. Where is the cheapest place to get one made? thank you
Captain Colonial Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I replaced the Mk 2 Escort rad on my narrow with something a bit more modern. The rad I used is by an OEM manufacturer, a Nissens model 652341 to suit VW Polos 94-98 and 99-, VW Lupos from 98-02 and 03-, and Seat Arosas from 97-02 and 03- Fits upright perfectly in the nose cone. No rad cap, no overflow, works without fuss.
Jim RS Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 I have 2 Polo rads that I want to get rid of, 1 is for a petrol so only narrow width, other is for a turbo diesel so is much thicker(more capacity). They were installed but never used as part of my build since when I have fitted side rads. They are a bit battered on the filaments but otherwise good as new, ally core with plastic headers. Not looking for any payment for either of them but would need some postage money, if interested I can cost delivery unless your near the Newbury/Basingstoke/Reading area and can arrange a meet.

Peter Robinson Posted March 15, 2020 Author Posted March 15, 2020 morning everyone, thank you all so much for the help with the radiator :-) seems I got one from my local motor components shop for £17.00 so now for some fabrication and rehosing. This is going to be fun!! Thank you all again, fantastic club this is!
