I'm sorely tempted, but my car is (will be) Navy Blue.  Do you think the yellow part would take a blue paint OK?  I have zero experience of painting fibre glass/ gel coat, so I don't even know if it's possible....

My fibre glass nose and rear arches have been professionally painted. Like most things bodywork, good preparation is important.

Hi @IainCameron

As @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO mentioned above, it's all in the prep. A good wash and sand (repeat) and a prime and navy should do the trick. I haven't done this before however but have seen great results on other cars, and in fact boats as well.

Drop me a PM me if you're still interested :)

regards

Any colour GRP can be painted any colour, it’s all in the prep (and to a certain extent choice/quality of materials, when it comes down to longevity etc)

Once any part is primed, they’re all primer coloured, after all! ;)

Thanks Brad.  Before I get too excited, can I just check that your aeroscreen/ mirrors combo are IVA compliant?  (Not too worried about the little rubber bolt covers etc, just the main set-up)

You need to present for IVA with the smoked perspex piece not fitted, else it will be classed as a windscreen and they will require windscreen and a demister. I put rubber edging strip on the fibre glass part.

Thanks Ian K - I wasn't aware of that regarding smoked element of the screen.

A few more pictures now the screen is off of the car...

On reflection, Navy Blue and Yellow isn't a bad combination.  Or is it?
