Rich Vaughan Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 From the Blure Book: 5.16.7. Exhaust catalytic converters must be fitted to all petrol engined production based saloon, touring and sports cars, including specialist production and kit cars, manufactured after 31/12/99. It's unclear whether this also applies to Modified Specialist Production Cars - does it apply? As my car has never been registered and never will be I'm guessing it doesn't apply but I need to be sure before my first event. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 It does apply to mod prod but wont apply to your car due to its age. Make sure you state its a 1980 something car when getting its passport John Quote

The point I’m making is that it’s not sufficient to say the car was built on a certain date if claiming period exemptions, you also have to be able to prove it if asked. not all cars racing in a non-road going category would have a chassis number that easily identifies their age. John Hoyle Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 The msg blue book states that section 12 is for road cars regarding the use of cats, section 13 for modified cars does not mention them,so not needed? Quote
Rich Vaughan Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 Thanks John, I'll check again... Yes you're quite correct. Modified Specialist Production cars section S13 explicitly does not mention the need for a cat. Either way I'll get confirmation of my chassis age and then I'm covered both ways.😀 Quote
