Reunion needed !!

Hi everyone - Happy New Year from Galloway in South of Scotland.

This my first post ever - anywhere - regarding anything (late developer) - be gentle with me !! I’m not even too sure this is the right place but maybe someone can help - or point me in the right direction.

In year 2000 I completed the build and registration of a yellow SE - built largely with new parts from Westfield. I was pleased with the finished article and was very fond of the car. Circumstances didn’t allow me to keep it for very long and I missed it (particularly the sound of the Weber’s) ever since.

Since it became possible to access the info - I’ve noted it has had a number of owners and it has not been used on the road for quite a number of years. It may well be widely used in competition perhaps - but I could do better now than it lying under a sheet or in a shed.

DVLA say that these circumstances alone do not entitle me to details of the present keeper and I wonder if anyone out there has any ideas. Registration Number is W484 OSM.

Cheers

Can’t help with the car but well done with the post and welcome from Marlow.

Spent time working in Dumfries and Kirkcudbright, lovely countryside.

Welcome Tom :ww:

From a quick check it looks like there’s an export marker against it so it’s possibly now residing somewhere abroad.

Welcome to the forum, Tom.

My late parents retired to Dalbeattie (and were there over 25 years) so I have spent many happy times driving around Dumfries and Galloway - a lovely area with really friendly folk.

SM was the local area registration code - co-incidentally my initials!

I’ve had a similar experience a few months ago, My dads old Volvo 144 has been playing on my mind for a long time, I’d love to try and get it back, although it may now be gone, however the dvla vehicle details only tells me it’s not taxed or tested (for a long time). I wrote to the DVLA to see if I could get the owners details but they refused me as well!

NEF 370K just in case anyone can shed any light.

The last V5C was issued 1st June 1986 and tax expired 1st Nov 1987 so it’s not looking good  :(

I know, sadly........

it was my last grasp to speak to its last keeper. It holds so many memories I need to close it out if I can.

I can remember all my Dads reg no’s of his cars but not my own, strange.

Welcome to the fold from way up north and good luck with your search

Hi everyone - many thanks for making me welcome and for your interest.

I wasn’t even aware Mark of the export marker - or noticed it. I guess if the car did go abroad - then came back - it would have been reregistered on return. Or if not - I’m still in the same position so this line of enquiry would be equally valid.

I’m in Dalbeattie Simon - great part of the world ok. SM reg was originally Dumfriesshire (Kirkcudbrightshire was SW) and we have lots of reg no stories - including this car.

Thanks again everyone. It seems nice here - I’ll maybe hang around for a bit - generally enjoy the entertainment and see what maybe turns up.

Cheers
