Hi  All,

Joined the Westfield owners September/October time.

Mid fifty's (me not the car) come from motorcycles R1s,but always fancied a kit car.

Already tiding up odd jobs and stuff.

Can't wait to mess,suspension e.t.c. finding limits.

And discovering information on the cars.

Roll on march!

Welcome mate,   My Vauxhall Redtop goes well on R1 carbs.

Dont forget to ask lots of questions about your planned mods,  the forum should save you from wasting money on stuff that don’t fit or not suitable.

Thanks fella's,

Hope to bump into a few members next year.

Hi Sooty,  prefered Sweep myself😁.

But questions I've got loads,2.0l blacktop type 9 g.box i presume.

Can i remove the box in situ?

If the car is built as per factory instructions, then the gearbox mounting bar is welded in across the tunnel so engine has to be taken out first, Followed by gearbox. It’s usually a 1/2 day once you know every nut a bolt that needs to be removed. I can do mine is about 2 hours but it’s a simple carb engine jobbie.

It can wait while next winter now, if the motor is coming out i

Thanks Gary,50% driving 50% tinkering.

I used to have a 1400 A series mini in my youth,so its like picking up where i left off.

Although i'm doing bits and bob's now,i'm leaving the major work till  next winter.

Was thinking cams and porting, but the more i think about it.Would a turbo conversion

be more value for money?😁

That was me about 5 years ago (although the last bike was a Fazer1000) - had ridden bikes for 30 years and still can't believe how much I enjoy driving the Westy as I really, really, never in a million years would have thought anything could get close to my love of bikes.

As sooty says, engine out is easy enough - mines a two hour job on my own to get it out and then three/four hours to get it back in and running. I thought I'd only use my engine crane once - ha! if only 🤣
