snowy892 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Hi, Just brought a pair of sports turbo seats from Westfield and TRS Harness's to match. Has anyone got any tips/tricks to putting them in and taking old ones out? Thank you. car - SEIW Quote
Terry Everall Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 The removal of seat belts and harnesses is very simple. Take off belts first and then seats undoing all fastening bolts etc Quote
SootySport Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 undo the nuts under the floor, 4 of them first. If the belts pass through any holes in the seats then lift the seat a couple of inches and then forward enough to gain access to the waist strap bolts which screw into the chassis at the bottom rear of the seat. Unclip or Unbolt the shoulder straps from the top of rear bulkhead. lift out the seat with runners. Youll then see how it all goes together and work out how to fit the new seats. Quote
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 You may need to drill new holes for the new seats, I fitted Sport Turbo seats from new and had to drill new holes. I used large washers between nut and seat floor with some silicon to fasten in seats and the washer covered the original holes. Quote
snowy892 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 Thanks guys, forgot to mention im replacing inertia seat belts for harness's. Is it a case of drilling out the rivets in the boot box to remove then locating the points for the new harness's? Quote
SootySport Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Yes, remove the boot box and you should see 4 welded in threaded boss’s on the top chassis rail behind the seat headrests. Hopefully your harness kit will have a set of ring eyed studs ready to screw in. You’ll need to drill 4 holes in the front edge of the boot box to accommodate the studs. Quote
snowy892 Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 Is this correct, now fitted seats and harness's. However the label shows on the harness's, is this correct. Picture attached. 1 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Yes it’s correct. They’re race harnesses, which to confirm with FIA rules must have certain information visible. Hence it tends to be done with labels like that, where scrutineers can easily check it. Quote
snowy892 Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 Thanks Gadgetman, For the confirmation. Looks untidy but I get the reason why. Thank you. 20191229_151947.jpg Quote
