Yep - the key point is “treat the following as first used before 1975”. From then on any time it says “for cars first used on or before...” a Q uses this as a Top Trump card. 👍

geejay
Thank you for the clarification - i feel much more knowledgeable (and pious) going back to the KwikFit MOT person now.
thebutler
This kind of thing was the point of my original post. Hope you get it sorted, amazing how many testers can follow the guidelines 🙄
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO
A bit late to this thread but just to affirm what what has been posted already, the Q plate is treated as before 1st August 1975, as are all kit cars up to 1998. Emissions testing required from 1998 on age related plate or 'cherished' number plate.
geejay
Thanks Martyn. I spoke to the Kwik FIt tester and we went through the regs on the phone - he agreed with the Q plate being treated as pre Aug 1975 so i'm taking it back in for a "retest" ..... Thanks all for info
thebutler
To close the loop on my original post I took it to a small independent just down the road in the end after giving them a call. A true father and son outfit, which is nice to see in this corporate age. They do a few Morgan's, but mine was the first Westie. Very thorough, but sensible test.
