My  company car (Rover 75) is due for change soon, and the policy is vague in so much that it has to be sub £22k (ish) and must be 4/5 door and not a 4x4.

I need low emissions, I want leather as standard and would prefer petrol, so the choices I am considering so far are a Saab 93 2.0t Aero/Vector as the petrol, and the Volvo S60 2.4 D5 SE as the diesel. The Saab seems to offer everything I need, and it's a looker too. Has anyone had experience of these or have any suggestions?

The father in law's got one of them and they're very good, but I think they're a bit 'bland', especially inside....

One to consider, though and well within the price range even adding leather.

If you want to have the "Courtesy" part of your brain removed, you could probably get a Beemer 3 series which would be alright

Or you could look at a Honda Type R Accord.  Not toooooooo Boy Racerish, S41t off a shovel etc.. :D

Whislt the emmissions weren't too great on this (27%) it should be under 20K so you save a bit on the tax there!

What are  Scoobies priced at nowadays?

That was one of my original choices, but way too expensive even without my desire for leather (which I am determined to have for a car of this value).

No-one got a Saab?

Scooby  - can't have as they're 4wd and the boss thinks they're too uneconomical(!;) and a bit too flashy for the job really. I have to be a bit conservative, hence the Swedish stuff thoughts....

My Co.Car price bracket is Monthly Lease Rate = or lower than Audi A4 2.0 petrol (base model)  - so no, I don't have a Saab.

Made a good choice in driving terms - a 1.9 Laguna Sport Tourer TD 6sp Box etc. Beat the heck out of my old Passat Bad choice in terms of electricals though (it is french ;) ) , Oh & it has to be said, My brother-in-laws new Mondeo 2.0 petrol is more fun though..... :t-up:

Well If you get the Saab, at least you know theres a whole band of brothers here to help you out with that VX engine in it (apart from that funny twiddly bit on the exhaust & inlet!!!!;)

;).......stop ponsing about with all this car nonsense, 22K would buy you a half decent motorcycle. Tell the fleet car manager that you'll put in a complaint of sexual discrimination if they refuse your request.

OK, has anyone had experience of the Seat Toledo V5 (it's got everything and is 'cheap' so the emissions don't matter so much) or an Alfa 156 2.4JTD diesel?

The Accord is a good one, but an Exec with all the toys would go down better than a Type R with the boss.

If I can get to a list of 4 or 5 I'll get test driving, but I'm still drawn to the Saab as the best overall package. I didn't know they had Vx engines - is this good or bad?

As for the bike idea, I don't think I could quite take my customers to lunch on it, especially in the winter. Besides, I never passed the test!

Thanks so far,

Minghis.

 .....tell the lazy sods the make their own way to the restaurant.

:0 .....you have my commiserations for not having a bike licence; you're missing out on so much fun.

??? ....car wise, I'd probably go for a top of the range lesser model like the Golf than a bottom of the range "better" model like the BMW.

My brother has a Lexus IS200 company motor, which is quite sharp.  and is full of toys :t-up:

Though he is hoping he can stretch to the RX8    when it comes up for renewal.

It must be nice spending someone else's money :xmas:  :xmas:

Cheers

Another vote here for the BMW 320DSE.  150bhp, 45mpg and only 153g of CO2 per kilometre, which means 18% tax but no tax increase for 4 years.
