Hello everyone,

I am a new member of this forum as I just started my search for a nice car .... and I chose a Westfield (I should say that Westfield chose me).

As I have to import it in France it will be not easy (french administration). I am also a new member of the french Westfield owner club and I am sure by mixing all the info from both forums I will be soon ready to buy my dream car.

My name is Thomas, I am 37, so preparing my 40's crisis as we call it in french (mid life crisis).

I have spend last 5 years racing cars (from Legend Cars to Mitjet and CM class prototype).

I will be please to learn more about this car, different models, what to look for when searching for my dream car.

Perhaps there are other french members who can provide me information on how to officially certify the car in France.

Edit: my car will be essentially for weekend use, very rarely on track. I am looking for .... See 2-3 posts down 😉

Thank you for your warm (or sunny, even cloudy) welcome !

I contact Westfield France and I know more about my search.

I am looking for a SEW or SEIW

-a  >30 yo car with pinto/X-flow engine (with all proof it is >30 y, body and engine)

-a <30 yo car with carbs engine(until 30 Dec 1993)

-a car with injection > 1 Jan 1994

If you know where to find that or even better if you own one for sale .... Contact me 🙂

thus I will have to request you info prior to any on-site visit such as V5, serial number and licence plate to be sure that this car can obtain the COC (certificate of conformity) from Westfield France .... And then it will be mine :-)

I found this .... Anyone from northern Ireland who leaves not far and would have a quick look for me? Reward by french specialties if I buy the car following your advise 😄

Is it a bit expensive because there is no roof/door/tonneau (600£ for everything)?

Thank you

They don't give you much information outside of the photos, do they!

I don't know what the prices in Northern Ireland are like compare to mainland Britain, but here the prices have definitely been on the up for the last few years, it's also a dealer sold car, so will be at a premium, compared to a privately sold example. It's had the dreaded conversion from flared arches to cycle wings, so the state of the tub along either side at the front needs checking closely, it has some kind of red painted plugs/grommets filling the bolt holes currently, but it also needs checking that the sides aren't physically distorted around the bolt holes - it's not un-uncommon for GRP to sort of creep and move in normal use, so you can end up with the grp around fastenings sort of distorting out towards whatever they're bolted too.  It is earlier, Kit style bodywork , not later ZK stuff, so may be a bit thicker and more resilient!

Nice engine to have!

Ok thanks .... But actually northern Ireland is too far and too burdensome to ship the car to southern France.

Someone is selling his for 7500£ (I need to purchase windshield + hood + doors + tonneau cover)

What do you think?

He told the V5 is dated from 1988

I asked for more pics

Hey, I will go to the UK to look at 2 Westfield for sale. 🤩

1 north-west of London

1 20min east from Snetterton circuit

Anyone around one of this area on the 12-13 October to help me do the right choice? You will be able to buy the one I will not 😁

Or any advice on what I have NOT to miss while inspecting the car?

Thank you in advance

Hi Toma

The yellow car looks a good  car and very good value in my opinion , a lot of car for not a lot of money .

Don’t worry about roof doors and windscreens, they’re for lesser men .

The forum is usually a bit quieter over the weekend ,I’m sure in due time ,you’ll get someone in those areas to assist you .

Ive found that most Westfield owners  love and cherish their cars ,so when you meet an owner and the car at their house  I’m sure they’ll answer all your questions take you for a spin and then it’s up to you to decide. Personally I’d rather buy a car from an owner than a garage .

Good luck with the search ,one things for sure you’ll never have driven a car that’s so much fun .

Ok. Yes, usually kit cars owners are in love with their car ... So I don't worry too much.

I gave up with the yellow one as the registration date on the v5 doesn't fit the french regulation to certify a car in France.

You are definitely going backwards...

Being spanish myself (and as you know we have good tradition with CM prototypes) my next step after the westfield will be a CM!! cant get what a Westfield will give you after a CM :)...

out of interest... witch manufacturer was/is yours?

Any videos?

cheers

Maurici.
