Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 The Chesterfield Canal was flooded for my cycle commute home tonight, I was lucky there was only about 6 inches of water, Glen had a scrummy tea waiting for me at home and there was no way I was going to miss that. Hat off to that lad though, water above the pedals, ooooohhh. 1 Quote
DamperMan Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 It’s not the water but what’s in it which is the challenge.. it must of been 18 years ago in my ex taxi 300k, cavalier 1.7td/ rally car, there was a bursed water main at the end of the road near work. I hit it flat in 3rd , no respect for car.... it looked about 6” deep. But the weight of the water collapsed the road and suddenly I had water coming over the bonnet. A bit of a surprise and a down shift to 2nd needed, It took a while for the mouldy smell to go from the carpets and find more clips to reposition the bumper. 1 Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Yep he wouldn't have look so clever if the water had lifted a manhole cover and his front wheel dropped into the hole. 🤣 Quote
