Ken Latham Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 For anyone entering Snowdonia from the 'Y Felinheli' bypass, from the Tesco Bangor roundabout, and then heading toward Beddgelert (A4085) Llyn Peninsula (A487) etc be aware that there is major roadworks with the construction of the new Caernarfon - Bontnewydd bypass, there are very long delays and stop starts of up to 12 mins in place plus a 30mph limit, lots of very heavy construction traffic and mud and dust. If your heading this way then I recommend you find an alternate route, for the A4085 head toward Llanberis from the A55 (one stop) and then head for Llanrug to the roundabout at Caeathro then pick up the A4085 from there if your heading for the Llyn Peninsuila or Portmadog then from the Caeathro roundabout carry straight on signposted Bontnewydd Pwllheli, you might save yourself a lot of time and a lot of waxing and polishing when you get home. On the upside they have made some remarkable archaeological finds, a Roman bath house, possible Bronze Age boat burial but on the downside they have cut down hectares of trees, many of them very old Sessile Oaks. I'll keep the group posted with progress Ken 1 Quote
