neilwillis Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Once my wee beastie is finished we are thinking of taking it down to Spain for a week's blat in the sun. Has anyone been over to Spain on the Brittany Ferries service to Santander? If so, did you have any problems loading and unloading your Westfield? Quote
Warren E Smith Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 The neighbours managed alright with a Renault scenic 2 toddlers and vast amounts of the assorted stuff that goes with kids And a bootful of Vino on the way home...... Bet thats no stuffing help whatsoever for you...... Quote
neilwillis Posted February 28, 2003 Author Posted February 28, 2003 I forgot about the cheap booze, I'd better get a trailer! Quote
minghis Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 A Westfield towing a trailer, theres a thought! Or a caravan.... Quote
neilwillis Posted February 28, 2003 Author Posted February 28, 2003 I suppose i could just leave the missus behind - I'd have room for a few more stellas that way Quote
Blatman Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Brittany Ferries, P&O ferries, and the train hold no fear for even the lowest of sumps. Watch out for the truck tie downs on the floor of the ship though.......The ferry loaders are pretty good, IME, so pay attention to them, and point out that you have a low ground clearance. You can even clear the BIG lip at the top of the ramp at the upper deck without too much trouble, just approach it at a 45 degree angle...... Refuse their offer of loading it for you....... Quote
neilwillis Posted February 28, 2003 Author Posted February 28, 2003 Hi Blatters, Thanks, full of wisdom as always (except when it comes to Zetecs of course)! Just got to convince the missus she doesn't want to go in one of those noisy airliners now Quote
Blatman Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Get some earplugs. She'll have a nice quiet trip, and if she doesn't, you'll not be able to hear her complaining anyway......... Quote
mb893 Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Hi Neil, Did this trip year before last in my Megablade ( 90mm front ride height ).... the loading chaps are very helpful but ask if you can go on the main loading deck (the one you initially drive on to), as you then don't have to drive up/down the internal ramps. The down side is you'll probably be the last to load... but hey, the boat isn't going to leave with out you. Have fun in the sun. Quote
neilwillis Posted February 28, 2003 Author Posted February 28, 2003 Thanks John Good luck with the build. Neil Quote
