BobM Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 I have RealOne Player but just their basic freebie which I needed to Play Graeme's Barbados Rally CDc Where can I get a suitable player from? Have you got Windows Media player? If so make sure you visit Microsoft's site to get the latest version, try playing the clip while you're online and it should automagically dowload the codecs required. Quote

westy Posted February 25, 2003 Author Posted February 25, 2003 Thanks to RicDiggle I just managed to watch the footage on my TV via SVCD (or some’in) but now I have motion sickness Quote
chrisbin Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Hi Westy Took it to office yesterday but neither I, nor our IT chappie could make it work - seemed to be searching for something that wasn't there IYSWIM..... Both pi$$ed off as he wanted to see it too!! We were using Windows media player too..... Quote
westy Posted February 26, 2003 Author Posted February 26, 2003 fink I found the codec to use: here its 9.6mb Select demo when installing.... I believe this codec comes with Adobe Premier and a few other video packages hence some people can get it to work and others can't Quote
david.c Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Westy Downloaded the file (1hr 40min) Am I correct in assuming that this doesn't actually play the video, and that it converts it to a format that you can play? Currently doing that at the moment (40mins down and 3 hours to go) Hope I'm doing the right thing..........and that it works David Quote
westy Posted February 26, 2003 Author Posted February 26, 2003 yep its just a codec so once installed it registers itself for use to Windows Media player. When you load the file WMP will then use the codec and we should all live happily ever after! 3 hours 40 to download a 9mb file Quote
david.c Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Westy I appreciate your help. It was an 1hr 40 to download the file, which I then installed and tried to play the video from the CD. It called up the 'Realplayer' then froze. So now I am converting it (to MPEG1), using the file I downloaded, and that is what is taking 3hr 40!! So long as I can view it at the end it will all be worth it. Cheers David Quote
