Rory's Dad Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 You do need to be careful with weight. I built a brand new (Yamaha) Zetec and it was just so chuckable - I guess like a bec. The engine was mounted further back so no extension was required on the type 9. My c20xe is much heavier, is mounted further forward but has a shed full of torque. It's a very different type of car. I would bear this in mind and would echo the suggestion to blag a passenger ride or two from local members. Get yourself to Stoneleigh too and try the same. Good luck! Quote
TAFKARM Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I’d add, if it’s mainly for track use, get on ON TRACK with some members. May 23rd @ Cadwell looks to have a few of us, or the club track day @ Blyton in July if you can wait that long. 1 Quote
Rory's Dad Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 My c20xe has 185bhp and 165ft lbs of torque and that's just plenty on the road for an old goat like me! Quote

Im new here I have come from the world of Bike engine cars, such as the Roadrunner Racing SR1 but have decided to go for a normal engine car. It will be mainly for track but needs to be road legal. Ive seen a few Avons and E1s and a Westfield with a Zetec-r engine. Is there anything i need to look out for or any warning signs? I need 200-300 bhp so presume Zetec/Duratec engined? a 1.8 201hp Zetec weighting 520kg with full cage... could be interesting for you? If so, P.M. me. Quote

maddog Posted April 11, 2019 Author Posted April 11, 2019 I’m open to ideas Maurici so yes. Is there any way to see pictures of the car? Quote
