D Evans Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 Any one know how this will affect Westfields next year http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=43582 I am hoping to do some sprints and have the westfield race seats. Am going to need anything else?? Dave Quote
Blatman Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 Wouldn't have thought so.... 17 Kg's at 5G is 85Kg's at 1G....... Besides, how will a scrutineer test it? Throw an 85Kg weight at the seat/headrest to see if it breaks? Who's gonna catch it? Quote
D Evans Posted December 19, 2003 Author Posted December 19, 2003 Not me It was the suggestion that a high back seat was not enough that had me thinking the worst. Quote
Blatman Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 Yeah. It had me thinking too. However, unless there's gonna be MSA certified seats (a'la roll bars/cages etc), how will *anybody* know that what we have won't do? I can see the alternative arguments. IE, fitting of some sort of structure behind the seat will become compulsory........guess I'd better save some of that upgrade money, just in case........... Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 Westfield high back seats and similar should still be o.k for sprints and hills There will be legislation that all circuit racing and rally cars should be fitted with full head restraint system seats (you know those things that "wrap" around your head). Sprints and hills do seem to be more "user friendly" as it is appreciated that many cars are fully road going Quote
RICHARD+PHILIP Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 marks right i can't see that will effect us , i've seen some westys with low seats and no head rests, and they run the sprints and hills with no problems. so get registered and come and join the fun. Quote
scott beeland Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 But bros....Are you not going single seater racing? Or have you still got that yeller car to come speed seriesing 2004?? Quote
RICHARD+PHILIP Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 scott is that an offer, the slick car is still for sale. so no single seater untill i've sold it. Quote
D Evans Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 Anyone know if the wording in the Blue book has changed for this year regarding head restraints - /Anorak mode on/Section L 10.1.3? /Anorak mode off? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 i've seen some westys with low seats and no head rests, and they run the sprints and hills with no problems But for 2004 they are advising the use of some form of head restraint which can either be as 99% of high back seats or as a pad on a "bracket" from the roll bar behind your head Quote
