'Self-promoters' do nothing but still get ahead at work.

"You might have seen their strategically self-regarding emails or watched their self-inflating egos in work meetings.

But business school researchers have identified a type of employee who manages to look busy and successful, without actually doing anything useful."

Well there's a suprise!! It took business school researchers to find this??

Not exactly a new phenomenon. In my day, any "manager" worth his salt could/would spot such people, and "manage their expectations" accordingly!

When attending meetings, run the last 10 seconds and carry a couple of loose sheets of paper. You'll arrive looking busy/rushed and with things going on. Have a nice folder for your notepad and use a nice pen. These are great tools for wool-pulling

The problem is these days, too many who have got where they are at the top did so by being a self promoter, they couldn't spot a duffer if he was wearing a hat with that written on it.

It is the fault of business schools who promote this clap trap, they make identikit graduates who could not organise anything. When I watch the apprentice apart from the first series, they have all been unemployable in my eyes due the them spending 5% working, 95% telling everyone how it was their idea if it worked and finding a sacrifice if it failed.
