Neil Rabin Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Hi. I have just purchased a megablade and need to disconnect the headlamp wiring. The wiring goes into one of these fancy waterproof connections. My questions are, has anyone come across these before,What make are they and how do I disconnect them!!. Thanks Neil Quote
BenD Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 ive not come across one on a kit car but they look like some of the connections stereo equipment. the silver part should unscrew and then the connector will either ind out with the screw or you can pull it out Quote
Neil Rabin Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 Thanks Ben. I have tried to undo the top but it wouldn't budge and I don't want to force it and risk breaking it. I have a contact in the audio business so will ask him. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 They could be anything really, without someone recognising the brand! Could you get the black cap off the unused one, and take a photo of the end, it might give a clue? Typical of similar sorts of audio and motorsport multipolar connectors would be a lock ring - the ring with what looks like the chunky diamond pattern grip, I’d guess this would need turning anti-clockwise to release, it may need to unscrew a number of turns, or it may be a part turn and then lift. the connector itself then may pull straight out of the socket, or it may have its own bayonet fittting - if it won’t turn, or pull, try pushing it in slightly and then turning, (anti clockwise at a guess, but try both ways) try and hold the metal body of the plug when pressing, pulling and turning! If it is a bayonet fit, it probably won’t need much of a turn. A look at that unused connector would help though, as guides for bayonet pins etc might show up. Quote
Skypeller Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 They look like threaded collar multiplugs we get them on Siemens servo motors at work. Not the same appearance but maybe a similar design Quote
