Popular Post Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 8, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted December 8, 2018 Wow, what a fantastic turn out today, I love catching up with everyone so thank you all for coming along. It very much felt like a Westfield gathering as we had so many members come, padded out with the Burton Car Club it has been a very sociable day, brilliant. There was a distinctive lack of Zeros though, which is a shame for the factory when they put so much effort in to the open day. Meeting at McD's was Syman84 with young Archie and a very young Olivia in tow, that's what I call making it happen against the odds, so well done there. BillyPee, Santa Andrew and Elf Clare, then from the Burton CC were Michael and Martin in the Ferrari and Alan in the Cobra. We drove in a very unusual convoy of tin tops and mixed kit cars the short journey to GBS. We were soon joined by Dave and Ian in their Westfields, then Des and Debs, BugMan Steve, Barry, Rebecca and Andy, Martyn and Sue and Chris all in their tin tops. That made for 17 members of our club all in one place. The sun came out and the wind dropped making for a very pleasant day. RobinRedSpider was a complete lightweight and stayed in bed recovering from his hangover, but we shouldn't mention that should we At GBS Santa Andrew and Elf Clare Batman Santa Dave and Ian arrived Bagpuss on the bonnet Sunshine is great unless you want a photo The Germanic BBQ, these people are the most wonderful family. Dave tucked in too, they were very tasty sausages, covered in currywurst sauce and served with fresh cobs The GBS crew made us very welcome as ever, with the German Sausage man and his family filling us up from his BBQ. There was warmed red wine and German Beer on offer for non-drivers. Then it was inside for the cake moment, Rebecca was torturing herself deciding whether to have lemon or chocolate cake 'follow me' I said, we will have both and some of those mini Christmas puddings too. Next Simon lost his car keys, well in charge of 2 kiddies you sort of have a lot on your plate. 'They will be in your car', and they were, of course they were, but we won't mention that either stick to winning Novice championships Simon. The boy racer fraternity arrived on their way from Mansfield to Newcastle on a charity run, not the sort of behaviour that gives sports car drivers a good name, but wow, what pretty girlfriends they had, I am talking model good looks with figure, hair and skimpy dresses to go with it. Glen is complaining that I didn't get any photos of them but I am sure somebody did. Next I rang the windmill place to book us a table and they said they were very busy. It is a small place and very popular so you must book in advance. Not to worry, plan B was engaged and we went to the Antiques centre, which is always a winner. Martyn and Sue, Chris, Andrew and Clare in another strange convoy came with us on the short journey for lunch. 'Cos we needed lunch!!! Santa Andrew and Elf Clare, gutted that they can't make our Santa Run in 2 weeks time so they were having their own today, good on you. Good job that Glen had invited Kevin then! with his windswept hair The cafe has a lovely outdoor seating area, but it had started raining by now and we sat inside, but in the summer it will be ours The spitfire picture is for sale, it is pressed tin. (Hip flask engaged) For sale is the Flying Scotsman picture, also pressed tin The chatting and catching up of car news carried on over jam and cream scones Chris, eating Nottinghamshire Bread, well that's what he is telling Mo when he gets home (it's nearly as healthy as Yorkshire Salad (chips)) And Martyn too So there we have it, a cracking day out, the driving was pants but the company more than made up for it. It rained all the way home and it was almost dark when we got back. We are back in the Peak District, land of wonderful roads, next weekend with the Ice Cream run, see you there. 10 Quote

BugMan Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Echo Julies comments, was lovely to catch up with few people, and a great day out, even if I checked out and caged a life with Barry Think GBS are a great bunch of people for putting this on, and deserve our support - and the cakes were excellent 4 Quote

Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 Here is a photo of the girls that came to GBS last week, this photo was taken later on that day, they don't seem to be posting any pics of them actually at GBS. Enjoy! Probably they won't be at the ice cream farm on Sunday. Quote
