I have a SE Narrow body that is allegedly a lightweight race chassis, but it was first registered in 1983 which is strange and probably misleading. How do I find out what I have and is it possible to do it from the chassis number on the V5?

Thanks

I suspect its a 1988 to 95 model.. but did they make a lightweight chassis?

It should be possible to tell the age of the chassis from the chassis number, but I can't remember the formula.

Someone will be along soon with the answer, I suspect, or you could ask the factory to confirm the chassis age, from the number.

If you look behind the radiator on the bottom chassis rail there's a little tag looks like this might help.

If you give us the general format of the chassis number, it would help.  For instance, a standard late 1988 chassis would be 88WSE999 if it was the 999th made that year.
