Quinten Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-45271874 Quote Officers who searched the premises, which was advertised as a gearbox repair business, seized machinery and components which they believe were for use "in the criminal manufacture of firearms and ammunition" and would make about 30 handguns. jeff oakley Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 So when people say my gearbox was shot, they may have been telling the truth 1 Quote
DamperMan Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Well I bought my type 9 from there and it’s not shot yet... And when I walking in it was knee deep in gearboxes... a bit of a mess to be honest. One of the names mentioned knows his gearboxes. My experience was good. Not sure why if big money is to be made from making Gun parts you’d bother messing with dirty old type 9’s and making gear sets etc for them. Quote

I think you might have missed the joke there, but in answer to your question, they do it so they can hide the alleged criminal activities. If you were claiming to be a gearbox reconditioner then it figures you will do some. Not sure how much money is in making guns, but there must be enough for them to risk lengthy prison sentences and from the pictures shown, they had the machinery to do it., Quote
DamperMan Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Yep...true, but the gearbox side was more than a front as it was real and quite specialised. He seams to be still selling stuff on EBay. If you have the machinery and inclination you could make all sorts... Which big Uk company was it who claimed they thought 50 foot of Special pipe was for an oil line not an Iraq super gun! Money talks saddly. And moral lines get crossed. It’s a shame Quote
jeff oakley Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Its not the first time you are right. It was Sheffield forgemasters who tipped off the government as the rifling that was being asked for a pipe for oil work was so out of whack it was a worry to them. There is also the case of a previous owner of a Kit car manufacturer who was hitting hard times started to grow drugs and distribute. Money is the root of much evil and you never know the guy you deal with might be an innocent person and others were the ones making the weapons. Whoever good work by the police as too many illegals arms are out there already Quote
DamperMan Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 With gun crime becoming more prevulent in inner cities it needs topping before it gets to where I live! Quote

It’s a shame Completely agree with you... We have the know how, ability, and equipment to go 100% breaking bad at Chem doesn't mean we do tho.... Quote
