eggontoast Posted February 24 Posted February 24 @Kenner, how tall is your little person? How do you seat them? My 6 ("I'm nearly 7, Daddy!") year old is about 1.2m and desperate to go in my Westy, but the composite seats are too narrow for her occasional booster. Maybe this is worth a thread on its own... 1 Quote

Kenner Posted February 25 Posted February 25 @eggontoast Once they are allowed to use normal car seat belt with a tall back booster seat they be able to go in your car making sure they all safe etc. Scarlett is 5yrs old and quite tall for her age, ill copy link for Gov website below for you about car seats. It dose depend on ages, height and weight of your child. Same rules as a normal car 🚗 The seat sits in nice and snug on top of normal seat don't get me wrong its tight. I did some searching for thin style kids seat as some are mega wide. My striker is very narrow, I did put some foam matts under kids seat so it sat level with main seat and didn't move etc. Also using kids seat it holds harness in place nicely over the shoulders. Also if child is little older/taller they can just normal bottom booster seat you get inflatable ones that great for tight thin seats. We both had helmets on too for extra safety too. Just make sure the seatbelts in your car holds them in nicely too. Child car seats: the law: Using a child car seat or booster seat - GOV.UK Quote
eggontoast Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Thanks @Kenner. There's legal and then there's safe/sensible, as you observe. She'll definately have a lid and goggles on too. I don't think she'd be OK with the buffeting otherwise. An inflatable booster seat is not one I'd heard of. As long as they meet the gov guidelines as well as being sensible that could be the one. I've read the gov site but your link wasn't working for me, so here it is in case the same is also true for anyone else: https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules At tune of writing this states: Children must normally use a child car seat until they’re 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, whichever comes first. Height-based seats are known as ‘i-Size’ seats. They must be rear-facing until your child is over 15 months old. Your child can use a forward-facing child car seat when they’re over 15 months old. Only EU-approved height-based child car seats can be used in the UK. These have a label showing a capital ‘E’ in a circle and ‘R129’. [rear facing for group 0 and 0+ weight based seats] Only EU-approved weight-based child car seats can be used in the UK. These have a label showing a capital ‘E’ in a circle and ‘ECE R44’. Edit: a bit more reading and the only inflatable booster I have found is R44 compliant, not R129. R44 was phased out 9/23 and in EU new sales from 9/24 prohibited. Sales can continue here, apparently, but the gov website seems somewhat misaligned if that is the case. The seat is a 'Bubblegum' inflatable booster. It does come in some jazzy colour options! And at 30cm wide has a good chance of fitting the seat... Quote
