If it's just the mirror you're after could you use one of these at  instead? There's several on Ebay and others on here have bought them........

What did people do to make the clamps fit?

On the one I got the clamps are too big (not sure if the linked one is the same)

I've currently "bodged" it with a 40mm to 32mm reducer plumbing fitting (which to be fair would look fine if they weren't white and I could cut it down straighter )

I ground the mating faces  down on mine & stuck some foam around the inside so it clamped up tight.
