Chipster
Evening Folks, I'm planning a few short road trips this year with the Westfield only planning a less that 200 miles a trip and all UK based. Just looking for recommendations on what sensible tools to carry and also what does everyone do for a jack should the dredded puncture fairy visit (or is tyre foam and breakdown cover a happy balance ? Cheers Chip
corsechris
After first building the car, any time we went any distance I'd have a pretty comprehensive set of tools & bits in the car. Carried a spare & a jack. Roll on a few years, just carry a few fuses and that's it. Spare wheel (and jack) was deleted back in 2011 when it got tarted up & painted. Never had to use the spare or jack in 20 years so it was no loss. Can't recall ever having to use the tools either. Only time it ever broke down was shortly after converting to EFI - one of the new fuse holders in the ECU wiring was faulty meaning it would intermittently go OC. Easily sorted on the spot with no tools. Don't do that many miles though, so odds have been in our favour. YMMV!

Thrustyjust
My tool kit consists of tyre foam, motorbike puncture kit, mini electrical test meter, jubilee clips, few cable ties , spare bulbs, couple of screwdrivers, pliers , mini torch ( or use the app one on phone) a rear exhaust rubber ! , throttle cable and a breakdown cover number. Best way is to really check the car over before you go and make sure its all tip top. This way you can sort all the little things that can manifest into something that spoils your fun in the car. You never know what can happen, but thats the same in any car , production, new or old or kitcar.
Steven Thorne
I bought an Oxford motorcycle tool kit from amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oxford-Motorcycle-Pro-Tool-Kit/dp/B00T063F52/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517654103&sr=8-1&keywords=motorcycle+tool+kitn , basic and small but has come in handy on a couple of occasions from minor repairs plus a recovery membership as well of course.
