Best Ever Quote By A Dentist

Had the misfortune of having to have a back tooth extracted yesterday. "Should be Easy" said my dentist.

After 10 minutes of yanking, there was an almighty crack and he almost fell backwards, with the top half of my molar in his forceps.

There ensued some drilling to split the root into four pieces and much pulling and twisting to remove the remaining bits.

After about 25 minutes of this he says "I need a rest, I'm getting back ache. I might get "The Terminator" (one of the other dentists at the practice apparently) to finish off". I felt so reassured!

Has anyone ever heard a better quote under similar circumstances?

In a warped way, the wife did ask what happened to your tooth . I said you were too busy mopping garage floors of oil to reply :d

In a different way, a mate had a Mk2 escort estate , which was a shi77er. He was building his westie and all funds went into this. The time was 1990 AD. The mighty 1300 crossflow decided to throw a hissy fit and boil over and chuck coolant all over the floor. We stopped and lifted the bonnet and used the line ' Well, theory has it, the water is on the floor, the rad must be empty' At the same time I undid the rad cap. Queue a vertical plume of water and steam, hitting me in the face. I did look like I was sunburnt for the next week while the burns cooled down

So, whenever I start with 'Theory has it.....' others leave the area now :d

As for dentist stories, I'll ask the practice manager when she gets home.

I read that In the old days,  ocean sailors stood with there head poking out of a porthole and used a piece of string to connect said tooth to the boom end which carried the mainsail , the trick was to gybe the main so the boom swung across from one side of the boat to the other,  taking the offending tooth with it.

I have yet to try the technique but have been tempted with the extortionate cost of dentists these days .

The joys of 'mates rates' has saved me a fortune the last few years :t-up:
