Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 If you look at the values of the normal classics in recent years they have really gone up so it's no surprises that people looking to "invest" are looking for the next cars to put some money into. Not suggesting that Westfield's get those kind of owners but certainly it's a consideration these days for some. Good to see them being recognised as a brand at last. Quote
Thrustyjust Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Interesting reading in Top Gear mag by Chris Harris this month about classic cars and 100k escorts. Especially in a world that in 20 years time, we might be running on moonshine than petrol. I think the value increase for Westfields are below this kind of threshold , to be 'real' collectors cars . They are more useable , classic and 'cheap' sportscars. Most MGB's, TR's and the like are silly prices now and a british sportscar industry is all but gone, so for 'normal' people to actually own a british sportscar , that is affordable , is what I think is increasing the market values for our cars. 1 Quote

I never thought my little cars could be thought of as being in this category as they were intended to be individual pieces of “fun”motoring. andy665 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I can't help think that the bubble HAS to burst but I have been saying that for the last couple of years. 911 prices started to show signs of softening last year but nothing significant. Frankly I do not care whether the value of mine goes up or down - I bought it to enjoy tinkering with, enjoy driving and hopefully to pass on to my 10 year old son at some point in the future 3 Quote

I've been helping my dad break up his modest collection so was at a Historics Auction towards the tail end of last year. The stuff that used to be the big ticket items ( E types, Ferraris etc) aren't making what they were... but 70s - early 90s BMWs are o the up... A lovely CSL went for £120k+. Mercs of that era are enjoying an increase at the moment too, as are some of the 90 Jap things. (MX5s are doing well) Quote

My old Pre-lit was on an S plate, which was from the donor and correctly registered as a Westfield. So, that makes it 1978 + 40 years = 2018 ................. result for my mate that owns it ! Quote
