Peter (Monty) Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I suspect the idea was to minimise visual clutter whilst not looking like half the screen was just turned off. I think it's a little gimmicky but ultimately those cars are toys the same as ours, and with the performance figures it has, I don't think removing the rotating mechanism would make any quantifiable gains! Can't believe how much you can buy a Continental for these days, so much car for the money. yep... You have to be able to mantain the w12 regardless of the purchase price... It was a 250k car when new... spares and labour still rated as when new... Quote

Actually I think servicing of premium cars is a bit of a rip off and as much based on what they think the customer can afford rather than what it really requires. Look at the service costs Lamborghini dealers charge as an example. A main service on a murcielago is around £3300 and a minor is £1800 The £1800 is only an oil change and inspection. Yes it holds about 11 litres of oil but why so expensive? Just because most customers want a main dealer service stamp to not impact resale value. An independent would charge about £400 1 Quote
maurici Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 No. You didn't got my comment. Try to don´t break any actuator of the w12 engine. Don´t speak about the bentley specific brake pads. Don´t even crash, because bumper and panel may mean a second mortgage in your house... special mention if you bend a wheel, lost center cap, or a broken headlight... Most of it unique parts, from a discontinued model of a brand that will keep very limited spares, and not much aftermarket to go for... That was my point. Not the oil and the filter... Quote

Ah Ok yes repairs is definitely different to maintenance. I have a friend and somebody rear ended her CCR. It was not that major - just cosmetic. Bumper was 20k and the exhaust £18k just for parts. Blatman Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Friend of mine has a Lexus RC which has an interesting dash... As for the high cost of damage to high end cars like Bentleys and the like, surely that what insurance is for? Preferably someone elses... Service items like oil and filter changes, plugs, pollen filters and the like I would have thought anyone who has built a Westfield could undertake that sort of job. But there are bound to be some jobs that need specialist tools or equipment to complete and that's where a non franchise specialist could help, but they can still be costly. 1 Quote
BenD Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 what about the batter charger for the continental gt convertible. its a direct copy of my ctek charger but was almost 3 times the price because it has their logo on. but its cheaper then a dealer battery Quote
pistonbroke Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Some years back A manager at the firm I was with sent me to the Jaguar dealer for a set of front brake pads for his XJ6 , I asked why the main dealer as they wold be much cheaper bought from an independent . He wanted pads that had the Jaguar Logo printed on them and was prepaired to pay a premium for them Quote
