Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Having just seen this on episode 4 of the Grand Tour: https://www.theverge.com/2017/3/1/14779540/mclaren-supercar-transforming-dashboard-video I've got to ask why! Surely with modern electronic dashes why didn't they just change screen config like I can do on my Dash2 or can be done on the Aim units. The rotating Dash is clearly adding uneneccsary weight for the sake of bling Any thoughts @Mistercorn 1 Quote
CraigHew Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I got the impression it was to provide a better view of the track and front of the car. Must admit, the McLaren feature was great (I watched it twice) but the follwing 50 minutes was cringe-worthy. Still, Car SOS starts again next week. Quote

Surely there are more things for be aware of on the road, kerbs, debris etc. Not good publicity for the Nomad breaking on camera! I enjoyed all the show and like the bafoonry 1 Quote

Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I've driven the 720s and found the rotating dash a bit of a gimmic to be honest. Yes, it does give you a great set off shift lights which maybe the standard dash can't give you, But given the likely extra weight/ possible unreliability I wasn't that taken by it. I'd much rather it was a head up display like I've now got on BMW which is great. As to what driving the car is like, just awesome, very very quick. 2 Quote
Deanspoors Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 That Bentley GT though! Can't believe how much you can buy a Continental for these days, so much car for the money. 1 Quote
