Phil J Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 I regularly need to park the tintop on the front lawn next to the drive, two cars narrow drive. The lawn is at the same level as the lawn but both slope slightly uphill and in the wet weather this causes wheel spin destroying the grass, turning it into a muddy mess. I am looking at putting some plastic grid into the lawn in the affected area to stop this but leaving it so the grass can grow through and it still looks like a lawn. Does anyone have any experience and can point my in the right direction, there seems to be a great variety available - I want to do it once and last for a good few years without replacement. Thanks, Phil. Quote

Mark (smokey mow) Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 I've got a gateway to part of my garden that i frequently use with the cars and have laid a grass protection grid to stop the area going boggy. The sub-base preparation is still key to stop everything from sinking into the ground over time and I've laid 150mm of type1 on a geotextile membrane to stabilise the base first. After that it was a thin layer of sand to get a good level and then Ecogrid 30 willed with topsoil and seeded with grass. www.ecogrid.co.uk In constant use over winter it does still get wet and a bit muddy but the grid stops the car from sinking in and making ruts. I've also just finished a driveway at my Girlfriends house and used the ecogrid 30 there too on the same sub-base but filled with gravel. Quote
