MarkS2 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Hi all, following on from my other thread (http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/127452-carbs-to-throttle-bodies-cost/) I may have sourced some QED direct to head throttle bodies and am wondering if anybody has any pictures of these or any throttle bodies fitted at this direct angle? I am looking at bonnet clearance and am wondering how much my bonnet will need cutting or indeed if it needs replacing as already has the cut outs for my 45 Webber's. Can't find anything via searching or on Google. Thanks. Quote
Nic Chase (NICO) - Shropshire & Mid-Wales AO Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Hi Mark mine are DTH TB’s with 90mm trumpets. Quote
MarkS2 Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 Thanks NIC that helps, I may be able to get away with just making the hole bigger then looking at your pic but I do have a v8 bonnet. Quote
Crash test dummy Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 This is was a VX with QED DTH throttle bodies. 1 Quote
MarkS2 Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 Thanks for posting. Thinking I will now need some bodywork fixing Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Yeah, I hate to dampen your enthusiasm, but I ended up replacing the bonnet when I changed from Jenvey parallel throttle bodies - that mount horizontally, on a DCOE style manifold, to Jenvey SFks which just like the direct to head QED bodies, mount in-line with the ports. (please ignore the mud from being kept in the garden, but here’s my old bonnet, as you can see, the original hole was enlarged to take the new SF’s and it leaves a biiiig hole!) Quote
MarkS2 Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 thanks I'd rather hear it like it is. Was really hoping I wouldn't need a new bonnet though as its painted in a 3 stage pearl orange Quote
MarkS2 Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 Dave sorry to be a pain but do you have any pics of your new bonnet on the car with the throttle body filter on? Quote
