snowy892 Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Finally fitted my half hood, however the previous stud fixings are too high on the windscreen. how do I - 1. place new studs onto the windscreen further down and 2. remove previous studs. (see pics) Regards Richard Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 There should be a plastic channel that sits on the top of the screen and the channel is fastened to the front edge of the hood. Do you have it pressed on properly onto the top of the screen. Quote
snowy892 Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 The channel is there and has been pressed firmly down, the front edges of the half hood go below the studs on the screen. Do I need to put more studs on?? Quote
Murraymint Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Looks like you will need to move the studs down a bit, best to remove the old ones and fill the holes...be careful when you drill into the frame. Quote
snowy892 Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Quote Hi Murraymint how do I remove previous studs? apart from the studs what fixings do I use ? Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 The studs in the windscreen are normally fitted by the factory, whereas the studs on the hoods are fitted by the owners, so If anything I'd say it is the hood studs that need moving up. If you do decide to move the screen studs then they are just riveted to the screen channel. You will need to carefully drill out the old rivet and then redrill the frame and rivet the stud base into the new position. Quote
toys4x4boys Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 They do look like they are fitted low on the hood as Mark says. This is mine, fitted nice to the factory studs in the screen I've also had a full hood fitted to the same studs. I'd be tempted to fit another set to the hood. Quote
Kit Car Electronics Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I'd drill out the windscreen rivet and fit the stud lower to suit the hood. Then fill the old hole with a new black rivet. Quote

snowy892 Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 cheers guys, that's it sorted. I'll put another set in above previous set. Thank you Quote
Terryathome Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Do you know the material of the studs? With them being black I suspect mild steel painted in the hood. However if any one of the parts are stainless steel (Hood or Windscreen) you may find it hard to mix the 2 materials together as they might not press onto each other. Well that's what I found. Quote
