half hood fixings.

Hi,

Can anyone give me an ideas where to place the fixings for a Half hood? (at the rear)

I have an original style Westfield and an RAC Roll bar.

What fixings do you have ?

They either fix to the roll bar rear tubes or the body.

I have the stock roll bar, so mine are body mounted.

There seem to be at least two variations of Westfield half hood rear fasteners. The early ones, like I have are long enough to fix on the rear of the car, similar to the photo above, but only one strap each side, not those inverted v arrangements, like the Soft Bits hood in the photo.

Since then, I suspect from what I’ve seen on a few people’s cars, that they’ve been redesigned and made shorter, so as to fasten on to the rear stays of the RAC roll bar, (or MSA bar, depending on hood version).

But really, as long as you can get sufficient tension on the rear straps, and that they’re solidly mounted, there is no right/wrong way particularly, just what suits your car. So if you have a tonneau cover, you might need to mount them slightly differently to if you have an open boot box, same if you have a boot lid.

Note the side straps use the same press studs that the tonneau cover/roof uses, so again, you might need to move them, or better still change the relevant press studs on the tonneau cover to the back to back stackable type.

Photos of the set up you have at the back of the car, and the version of half hood you have might help us?

Depends on the type but my SB47s half hood is fixed onto the rollbar with turnbuckles. Look neater IMO than those fixed to the tub.

Thanks for the replies guys. The fittings I have are ' turnbuckles' / 'turnpeg'  I think im going to try to fix them onto the rollbar. If not onto the bootbox so the straps fit just under the boot cover. However, im not sure the boot box due to its fixings will be strong enough.

IF, I fix to the roll bar is it as easy as!!! drilling and riveting???

Thank you. Was nervous about drilling uprights to start though. All came out well in the end.
