Nope it's a fact Westfield produced just the one diesel powered car with an engine development by Richard Wilsher  ;) and it was a Turbo diesel Ford 1.8 litre unit producing 110 BHP. Christened a Westfield Weasel by the motoring press, perhaps not fully appreciated.  :(  :D  ;)  :)

The car was also used for one race in the BARC Westfield Race Championship many years ago  ;).

I believe it may still be in existance somewhere  ???  :D  :)

It was red in colour and fitted with one of the first prototype boot box covers  ;)  :D  I have the other one in Burgundy  ;)  :)

You're not going to buy THAT as WELL are you Dodge?

hehe  ;)

I have come to the conclusion that  you and Catflap are a bad influence on each other, you both spend too much!

Perhaps with only the one car ever produced - the success speaks for itself  :(  ;)

Perfomance figures were very good when compared to other cars - but petrol seems to rule the roost  ;)  :D  :)  for sports cars  ;)  :D

I heard about a diesel powered motorbike made in India, so I guess anything is possible

Believe it or not, but the first diesel motorbike was actually built in the Midlands. The bike did 200+ miles to the gallon. IIRC the rights to the project were sold and subsequently are now made in India. Or something like that.  :)

:arse: ....they use a converted cement mixer engine which produces a testicle shrinking 6bhp.

:0 ....a Swedish company has produced a light weight diesel powered bike for the USA army which is as powerful as it's petrol driven brethren

So anyone considering a dieselbusa or dieselblade?

Nice to find such an open minded bunch of enthusiasts!  Got here from a link posted on another forum and cannot believe the difference!  :t-up:  Just read the flip down screen posting as was particularly impressed

OK, enough of the brown nosing, back to the topic.  If you are interested the std for a new TD engine shall be at approx 85bhp/litre in 2004/2005.  Advancements in the fuelling and turbo technology shall mean that new diesel engines from the main European manufacturers shall be able to not only compete but beat their petrol equivalents of the same capacity, whilst at the same time retaining most if not all of their economy... :D

Engine size and weight reduced by plentiful use of Ally.

As I said last time we discussed this topic.  Diesel is the future,  my VW Passat co. car 1.9TDi 130BHP and 228lb/ft of torque - more than a Porsche Boxster.  The mid range pull is impressive even in a car weighing around 1.4 Tonnes, and I still get 45 mpg even with my driving.

Clearly some readjustment in the thought process is required
