Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Forecast was right, woke to a lovely sunny day, too nice not to go for a run. So Headed south across country to Chard, then on through Axmister and down along into Lyme Regis, usually nice and quiet this time of year now all the grockles have gone. Drove down to The Cobb, to find the place rather busy with people of a certain generation (guess that includes me if I think about it). Managed to find a space to park up, first question, where do you securely put a parking ticket on a open Westfield. Put it under the wiper and took a photo, just in case somebody borrowed it! Nice walk out along the The Cobb, made me fell quite young! Had hopedfor a nice photo opportunity of the car by the harbour, no chance to many buggies and zimmers! Gentle chug up the hill, then down through the busy town, then picked up the A35 heading east. Lunch stop at the Clock Inn at Chideock (had recently been there for WSCC Dorset meet), then onto Bridport and found the Morrisons for a fuel top up. Then we headed north through Beaminster (just had to drive through the tunnel!), and towards Crewkerne, unplanned diversion (poor memory) around the country lanes and on to Martock, then to Langport where we stopped at Shakespears glass. Fascinating place with excellent cake and coffee right beside the river Parrett if you're passing. Short run, and home. A lovely days run in the sun, can't remember having to stop at so many sets of temporary traffic lights though. Went along a road which seemed to be more water and mud than tarmac, early in the day, now realise that water spray seems to curl down over the top edge of the screen and deposit itself on the inside of the screen! Guess this must happen to everybody? Think a wash and polish is on the cards for tomorrow. Trust I haven't bored you too much. 4 Quote

jonjh1964 Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Left home at 05:30 plodded up the A37 through Bristol to Filton, left work at 18:10 average 6 mph for the next 40 mins until I got to the M5 and got back to Yeovil at 20:00 - didn’t need to stop for fuel as my diesel Clio does 700 miles/tank, no tunnels but then who cares with a 86 bhp chugger. Still at least I don’t need to polish anything...only 7 more years...... 1 1 Quote
Alan France Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Agree with AdgeC, retirement is great, although I do get annoyed at Bank Holidays. People should be at work on Mondays rather than enjoying themselves. 1 Quote
