Not a long drive for us in Herefordshire, it's one of our favourites for a quick spin on a good day, but it does mean venturing into Shropshire. Single track road across the common to the top of the hill, big ruts/holes/puddles in the [sort of] main car park, but lots of other places to tuck into. There are old quarry workings and quarry buildings as well as the NATS radar domes. A few good walks around the common and on to the summit of the hill, cracking views all round on a good day. The sky gets dark enough for star/Milky Way photography on a clear night and if you like a challenge it's usually the first place to get snow in the winter.

Hi Gary! It’s jody howells! You used to teach me in science at school! Your Westfield is a beauty I’ve seen it around town. Currently looking to buy my own! Great pictures!

Hi Jody

Good to hear from you, glad you like the car. We've also got a second family crossflow engine car that Mike runs. Good luck with the car search, happy for you to come and look over either car if you want some ideas about wahat to look for.

Hi Gary that’s great! I did think to myself I bet mike will be trying to borrow yours regularly ! That’s awesome I’m currently on the look out for a zetec or crossflow powered westy with Webber’s or throttle body set up.

I run a focus st for daily commuting which does a great job, as decent as it is, it’s still no westy!

Which engine does yours have Gary?

cheers

We've got gsxr throttle bodies on the crossflow with megasquirt ecu. My Westfield has got the 1600 sigma engine, goes well because it's light. My daily is a 220 octavia vrs estate, like the st it's quick enough, just not nippy like the westfield.

Pitfalls when buying and engine choice is well debated in several places on the forums, to be honest we didn't think about engine choice much for either car, just made sure that we drove them to see what the power delivery and handling was like before we decided to buy. Take your time and drive if you can before buying.
