Is OPIE any cheaper than other places ?

Looking at engine and gearbox oils for mine and , even though you can use a code, he still sells it cheaper on ebay for the same stuff, so not really a club 'benefit' . Also , I cant seem to get his prices cheaper than a lot of places selling oil . Am I just being awkward, or this 15% off this week, free shipping the next, not actually a bargain price, just the same costs all along ? Just like ECP selling stuff and 48hr sales with up pricing to make everyone feel like they have a bargain ?

.....could just be clever marketing. Just like the Sofa Stores with virtually permanent 50% off sales!

I am thinking it too, but most have probably recognised this now , especially with the internet . That reminds me, we havent had the DFS autumn sale yet !!

Not, sure, last time I bough Fuchs Titan oil for the Westfield, Okie was the cheapest, not by massive amounts, but cheapest non the less. Then again, it was an expensive oil, with more margin to play with, I suspect.

Discount rates are so broadly available, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if they just brought prices, on average, down to the normal market prices, or there abouts.

I just like their service standards. Very quick and usually they have the filter and 'service packs' of the correct amount of oil for your car. Different for Westfields, of course, because they won't have the details available. Simon is knowledgeable (or a consummate BS merchant!), so advice is available too.

As said above they aren't always massively cheaper but service is good. It's becoming a pet irk of mine with them that the eBay prices (inc p&p) are cheaper than website with discount code. I don't like lining ebays pockets if I can help it as they are a tax dodging bunch of robbing barstewards.

Surely it's also more expensive for them to sell it through eBay or do big traders not pay any fees?

Certainly with the Millers range they are a lot cheaper than RRP, so much so that if we were to try and compete with them we'd lose money!

We have an account with fuchs uk Yet I can buy some of the Fuchs oils on eBay cheaper.  This annoys me but!!!    I assume our discount rate is a bit crap on std oils. My concern with Ebay if it’s not a real company selling,  really you can’t be sure it’s even the real stuff.  If you can buy Aldi oil and wack a new sticker on it, and describe the item as not having retail packaging it would be hard to know the difference.    For a few quid i’d Rather buy from a real company

Opie are a tad cheaper if you buy a few items at the same time otherwise the one odd oil purchase is better sourced on eBay, ASDA, Tesco.

Eurocarparts have been the cheapest for car parts for sometime. Using the best discount codes on click &collect and a part is always available same day or next which is a bonus.  You do need to check the brand of the part you want is correct as the pickers can substitute the brand you ordered. With click & collect you can check the part on the counter. Taking parts back for a refund is never a problem with no re-stock fee unlike some parts suppliers I know.

I bought a new pollen filter for my Skoda this week, off ebay from Eurocarparts , as cheaper than direct from Euro, who are down the road. They then also have to pay carriage charge to get it to me , than me driving an 8 mile round trip to collect.  Weird how it is cheaper, as they will also have ebay fees to sell it. 'If ' it was 25% cheaper down the road, so is priced the same as ebay, i would pop down the road to get it.

Opie maybe comparable , if I spent £60 , so getting free carriage , but , I wasnt going to spend £60 and was post free on ebay..............Its sat under my desk according to my boss, the oil and pollen filter, so will bring it home after my few days away and chilling out.
