Steve (sdh2903) Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 When i first moved north of the border I went down a pothole and destroyed an alloy on my 306gti. Couldn't get a wheel anywhere so ended up at the dealer for one. 260 quid later they then advised me they had to replace the tyre as the dealer wasn't allowed to refit old tyres. So this pothole ended up at around 400 quid. Started the claim process with the council. Sent pics etc. The hole was big very big. In the end because it hadn't been reported to them they were unaware so weren't liable. At the time I requested the road survey reports under the freedom of information act as it was an A road and surveyed once a month. Much tooing and froing I gave up. 3 years later I received a pack from the council with the road survey info!! The infuriating bit was 7 days before my incident a survey was carried out and the pothole was on the survey so they were aware!! Lying bunch of ******s. Now our local council has an online reporting portal for reporting defects and I report absolutely every little defect I see just to be pedantic and to be fair it works. The holes are filled in quick albeit by a blind man with no sense on how to repair a road. Quote
DonPeffers Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 I can understand Council budgets under pressure but with too little money in the Birmingham area to empty refuse bins how do the Council propose to come up with their £187 million share of the 2022 Commonwealth Games bid? Quote

That is a different pot of money. That is the one marked vanity projects or pet projects, it is the one which is bottomless and is full of not only money but sound bites to try to justify why they do things that make no sense to rate payers. 1 Quote
