Howsafe Workwear and Safety Equipment Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Hi there Thinking about taking a higher value motor to the ring - therefore considering insurance options Anyone any experience of or recomendations? Thanks Clark Quote
TAFKARM Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 I'm pretty sure there isn't anyone that will cover you on TF. have you thought about one of the DN days? Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Cleggy We are off to the ring end of October if you fancy joining us. I couldn't find anyone that would offer TF insurance unfortunately. The liability is more that some Germans still have 3rd party cover although I understand this is now being stopped. We did rent cars from RSR once but the excess is fairly chunky David Quote
Deanspoors Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Easier said than done, but if you aim to drive well within your capabilities, then surely you'll be fine. It's more about the experience of being there than breaking track records. Quote
mr_mcp Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Agree with Dean. Aside from insurance, you can subscribe to the German breakdown provider ADAC, that do recoveries on the ring should you get into trouble. It's bl**** great fun, just keep your wits about you. Quote
Howsafe Workwear and Safety Equipment Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 Thanks chaps - I have requested a quote and will report back David - Mark has organised it for the 3rd Oct (full day open tourist day) if you can make it? Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Cleggy 8 of us already booked for end of Oct. Ring is open 4 days in a row then. Quote

Howsafe Workwear and Safety Equipment Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 ok got one quote in - jeesh £1018 think I will risk it for a biscuit or I might hire when I get there Quote
mr_mcp Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Risking it adds to the adrenaline rush... that's how I sold it to myself anyway Quote

Rather than risk my motor I have just booked a hire car with RSR - Megane RS265 in right hand drive - 349 euros (huge excess mind you if the worse was to happen but considerably cheaper than the loss on mine - however if you just damage it you only pay for the damage) 1 Quote
maurici Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Spanish insurers cover cars in TF. Is considered a public road... so, said in other words, there is no expecific exclusion to the official road name of the ring (i dont remember which one it is) (and we now that from pretty first hand... not my car but nearly). However, your car, should be the last of your worries... Track time lost because of your incident, armco barriers, spilling oil or coolant and being found gilty... No insurance against the bill that the private company of the ring will issue against you... and that will likely be the expensive and ruining thing. Last friend involved (without causing the crash by himself in the first instance) have a pending bill over 200K euros, that is going to be claimed in court... that happened in a multiple crash, because a posh Mclaren spilled coolant on the floor and about 12 cars were involved. Bill for the Mclaren is greater... Probably you are already aware of how ruining can be the ring... but just in case. If you have booked with RSR, ask for Serxio from and say hello from me My advice for the ring... the cheapest car possible, and if in crash... just abandon it and run. I'm a big fan of the ring, but has turned out in a crazy and unsafe thing due the hype and trendy moment the track is living... Stay safe out there. 1 Quote
Howsafe Workwear and Safety Equipment Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 well turned out that RSR made a mistake and withdrew the option for 2 laps saying that they didnt realise it was a full day session (despite me saying I wanted an early AM arrival - of which they only offer four laps which was going to be a lot more money anyway after messing about I have hired a Suzuki Swift Stage 2 from rent4ring - couple of laps will do me and allow me to cross it off the bucket list Quote
