Phil J Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 My prelit has a roll bar that seems to have brackets on the uprights for inertia reel seat belts. Are roll bar mounted inertia reel belts IVA legal as my wife prefers the lift and separate to double squash four point harnesses. If they are legal can anyone point mean the right direction to find a pair, thanks. Quote
Vogalogue Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I believe they are standard ford items, I have them fitted on mine. I'll see if I can see a part number next time I'm by the car. I'm not sure how tall you or the wife are, but the way they are mounted I struggle with them digging into the side of my neck.. in fact I'm tempted to go for harnesses! Daft question, is assume your Pre lit has been road registered for some time, why would IVA compliance be a concern? Quote
Phil J Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 My prelit was never finished by its original owner and I am trying to finish her of for IVA and registration. A picture of yours would be helpful, even for fitment after I have finished the upgrades and completed the IVA. Quote
Andy_R Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I can't answer whether they are now legal for the IVA but here is a picture of mine so you can see how they are fitted (albeit on a Post Lit Wide Bodied). I prefer these to a harness ... when you are at road junctions or needing to move in your seat you have much more flexibility. However 99% of my Westfield use is driving around Yorkshire or the Peak District and not screaming around a track. If I was using the car for track days or competitive racing I would have a harness in an instant. Quote
Phil J Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Thank you for the picture, not the same mounting brackets that mine has got on the roll bar but post IVA I think I will try to do something similar. Quote
Vogalogue Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Apologies they were quick snaps... I've mainly been focusing on mechanicals since I got it, so note got much into tidying everything up! A quick google image search suggests they are (perhaps unsurprisingly) from a ford Sierra. Edit: I've been beaten to it! Quote
Phil J Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Thanks for the pictures, it make a lot of sense having seen those as my mounting bracket is not like that. I could use my mount for the guide loop and use a different reel housing and mounting arrangement . Quote
