Beaker_Bob Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Morning all, I know this topic has been discussed at length previously, so i'll try and avoid the usual subject matter. On a recent trip to Toybox, I noticed they were now mounting front number plates using flexible mounts, allowing them to hinge rearward in the event of being struck. Unfortunately i didn't get chance to have a proper look at the mounts in question. Does anyone know what they are using and where to purchase them from? Alternatively, does anyone have a Toybox prepared car with said mounts that could snap a photo and post here. Thanks Bob Quote
Chester Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I've done something similar using 2 cable ties. I pass one cable tie through the number plate and then through the hole in the body work. The locking bit prevents it pulling all the way through. I then used the locking bit off another cable tie to secure the first one. Cost about 2p for all 4 ties. Mark Quote
SootySport Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Don't think there is a an off the shelf solution, most of us have our own ideas on how to mount them. Motor bike well nuts are a neat solution. Quote
Davep1 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I use rubber bobbins - a bit like these - they work very well. Dave. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-Anti-Vibration-Rubber-Bobbin-Mounts-15mm-D-x-15mm-Long-M4-male-car-boat-/222052184177?hash=item33b3577071:g:HMoAAOSwNphWbxO3 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Just be very careful if using hinges, that it doesn't appear to be a mechanism for folding the plate out of site to avoid something other than road debris If you happened to drive past a copper having a really bad day, at speed, with one pushed back flush to the nose by air pressure, you might suddenly be the one having a real bad day!
