Popular Post Valey80 Posted July 17, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 17, 2017 So on Saturday I finally picked up my new toy, W7 WSC now has a new home in the midlands (perhaps it's spiritual homecoming close to Kingswinford?) having spent much of it's life up t'North! It started with a long train journey with my brother from the midlands to Durham where we were collected by Christiano (Christian really, but his user name adds flamboyance!) for the 15 minute trip to his house. Upon arrival, the garage doors peeled back and there she was - shining bright in all her glory. Behind Chirstiano's wife was the car....I'm kidding...! It truly looked spectacular. Much better than the weather which was continuing to have light rain and very grey and dark - it was North after all. After the formalities, paper work, money transfers, standing looking at an engine whilst drinking tea, we clambered in, helmet's on (it's an aero screen), water proof jackets on, and tiptoed out of the drive way. A shocking turning circle saw me nearly kerb the alloys withing the first few moments of ownership, but narrowly avoided the embarrassment! And then we were off, facing the 220 mile journey home through the rain and wet roads (running on Toyo R888 tyres tended to make you conscious of how much throttle is applied). The start was long and arduous. A1(M) south for approximately 20 junctions got tiring. A pit stop at the services was required, but the admiring glances, people taking photos, the "Nice car mate!" comments all coming in - a sign of things to come. A call of nature and a sausage roll consumed, and we're back on the road, eventually exiting at Junction 37 and heading to the northern tip of the Peak District (and a comically named town of Penistone). The rain came back, the views were stifled by the low cloud, and we tiptoed through, not knowing the grip limits and also having a propensity to not dump it in a hedge/down a hill. But still it was wonderful. Sat nav's on the blink, no signal on phones, we picked our way south eventually picking up signs for Buxton where we had another stop for a tea and to watch the Morris Dancers do their thing (whatever that is!?) at a show that happened to be on in the center. 20 mins later, we're back in the car, on to Ashbourne, Uttoxeter, Rugeley, then to drop my brother off at his house in Cannock. His road has speed bumps - turns out it bottoms out on these - noted for next time. Now just another 50 mins home for me - down the M6/M5/M42 to Redditch but I made it. We left Durham around 1pm, arrived home approx 7pm. A long day, but so worth it. I immediately took the wife out for a quick spin - "SLOW DOWN!" being the common statement made, the reply being "We're only doing 45 mph!" - a new sensation for her. Cleaned her, dried her off, into the garage (via bottoming out again - planks of wood to smooth the gradient have fixed that - thankfully the protection loop did it's job!) but then back out on Sunday for a trip to Bewdley to pick up my dad and take him out. Sun shining, roads dry, was able to start exploring the ability of the car (and me more to the point) through some wonderful roads around the area. The early evening sun starting to set, I head home, tuck her up in bed (after toweling her down again), and relax knowing I have so many more adventures to come. A wonderful start to Westfield life - a long epic in the rain, and a quick blat in the sun - I know which I preferred, but it's all so wonderful. Here's to many more!! 12 Quote

Ali and Gail Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 only had ours 20 months and could not imagine life with out one now. We've done around 6500 miles this year alone and love every second and everyone in the club is fantastic. Wet is fun, dry is fun, being in a Westy is EPIC. 3000 smiles a second. 1 Quote
