CraigHew Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Been thinking about fitting a new harness to the drivers side for a while. I've noticed a couple of spare threaded chassis holes on each side of the seat base. is that where I'd bolt in the 5th and 6th (crutch) straps? I don't want to faff about getting an additional cross piece welded to my floor and wouldn't fancy utilising the front seat bolts to sandwich the harness buckles into on safety grounds. any advice? Clearly, the 4 point option would be a straight swap. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 They're not really in the right place, unless you used them as a mounting point for some kind of bar to attach a crotch strap to. Anything else tends to use the cut-out, assuming there is one, in the seat base as a sort of "structural" belt guide to stop the straps pulling apart. Mind you, I'd also want to be unltra certain I'd got a six or five point harness done up properly at all times, (which normally means tight), I recall seeing an article on harness inflicted injuries from badly adjusted six point harnesses some years ago and it was absolutely terrifying! With photo accompaniment I can still see burned into my brain to this day! Quote
