Had to happen sooner or later. Started the car on Sunday and the rev counter needle simple fell off the gauge - took the display out (Stack ST8130 ) and on removing the back it was clear that no DIY repair would be possible. 

Packaged up yesterday and sent to 213 Performance (UK distributor) for a repair - today received a quote of £330 to replace the motor (bearing close to collapse), needle, dial face (going to the more traditional black with a bit of luck) and glass (few scratches) and a full service / test - not cheap but in effect I will be getting a completely fresh looking and serviced unit at less than a third of new price.

Service from 213 Performance has been exceptionally good.

I think its called man maths :-)

Yep, 213 are the guys that used to work for Stack UK, when they had a repair department in this country, they're very good!
