It did not stop us going out today,we went to the O2 at Greenwich and over to Canary Wharf for something to eat. Yesterday I was at London Bridge and Borough High Street. Do not bow down to these scum.

... doesnt agree with the shoot to kill policy

Actually it's not even StK, its head shots if poss. They don't want to run the risk of cooking off a suicide vest if its being worn.

But like it or not, you can't kill an ideology with a .223, yes you can stop the disciples, but the belief will just deliver more.

I really have no idea how this will end. The problem is, our "live and let live" society  (and long may it continue) isn't geared up to fight this sort of threat.

It reminds me a bit of the segment of the classic Disney film 'Fantasia'. In this segment the music is 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' in which the apprentice (Mickey Mouse) uses his nascent skills in his master's absence to call up the besom broom to do his chore of filling the reservoir tank from the well. After a while the tank overflows and he tries to stop the animated besom to stop carting water by chopping it in half. But to his horror the two parts come to life and redouble the work resulting in an even greater flood in the wizard's cavern. The more he chops, the more besoms there are carrying water in buckets. Eventually (we live in hope) the sorcerer (God, Allah, whomsoever) returns and breaks the spell and order is restored. We can only hope that a benign deity will intervene and put a stop to the lunacy.

If you haven't seen 'Fantasia', do try to - it's a brilliant animation made in about 1947 when Walt Disney was making his best material. Children, older than toddlers, but not yet adolescent, will love it and may even benefit from it.

That is deep and yes, I remember the film / sequence well... The ideology just keeps delivering more brooms

London Bridge attacker previously on Channel 4 documentary appearing to pray to ISIS flag   http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/813075/london-bridge-terror-attack-identity-attacker-ISIS-channel-4-documentary

Seems this attacker dropped off the radar of security services when he should have been under close scrutiny or better still detained and deported. If he had a UK passport and no other nationality or country to deport him to then we might have to seriously think about setting up our own Guantanamo Bay where dangerous individuals are held beyond judicial reach. Unpalatable I know but better than multiple deaths and very serious injuries every 5 weeks (3 terrorist attacks in 73 days) although it would involve withdrawing from the ECHR. There are plenty uninhabited islands around UK coastline to use.

I'm fed up with political soundbites like "Enough is enough" when I would have thought that the Manchester bombing of schoolgirls was more than enough.

To be fair to Mrs May she has previously advocated coming out of the European convention on human rights (ECHR ) which would at least allow the deportation of dangerous foreign nationals  https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/apr/25/uk-must-leave-european-convention-on-human-rights-theresa-may-eu-referendum

Of course you cannot deport the dead and it seems these attacks are all suicide attacks.

Over 19,000 police officers cut in last 7 years under Mrs May's watch can't help and even officers with tasers would be better than just having batons.

8 minutes police response time to kill the terrorists is commendable but likely the response time would be greater outwith a major city.

Government figures show the number of police officers in England and Wales has fallen from 146,030 officers in 2010 to 126,766 in 2016 - the number of armed officers has dropped from 6,976 to 5,639 in the same time.

Big changes needed whoever is the PM on 09 June.

16 May 2012 Mrs May as Home Secretary (responsible for security) facing Police Federation unhappy at Government 20% funding cuts and warning of increase in crime   http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-faces-calls-to-resign-after-being-booed-offstage-at-police-federation-address-7757366.html

"Theresa May faced demands for her resignation and endured sustained mocking today as she sought to defend the Government’s cost-cutting agenda during a hostile meeting of rank-and-file police officers.

The Home Secretary was greeted by hundreds of officers standing in silence holding banners saying

“Enough is Enough”        as she prepared to address the Police Federation, the group that represents officers up to the rank of inspector. She left the stage to boos and calls of “resign” after a hostile near two-hour session in front of some 1,000 officers."

Now we know where the phrase "enough is enough", used by Mrs May on 04 June 2017 after the London Bridge atrocity, came from.
