I have just seen at Aldi that they have air compressor 50 ltr for £129. I don't know if there any good, has any body brought one as I am looking at getting one for my new build. Any advice welcome.

Cheers.  Steve.

50L is fine for a home compressor but you need to check either the CFM or the power rating. For things like riveting a mid-level will be fine (e.g. 8CFM or 2HP) but for higher air consumption tools like grinders, you need 12-16CFM/3HP to use them continuously.

I got an 8CFM compressor for around £120 from Machine Mart, I now wish I'd gone for the 16 - get the most CFM you can afford!

From memory the one I Got was a 13 CFM

Thanks for all the replies. I got the price wrong it's actually £119. It is rated at 2.2kw.

4 bar  at 207 litres per min, 6 bar at 173 litres per min and 7 bar at 147 litres per min.

I am not sure what this equates to in ft per min?

cheers Steve.

The only time you will need more CFM is for grit blasting and big air tools. I used a 25ltr , 25yr old air compressor to build my car and the only time I struggled was the right angle pneu drill would stop between drilling a couple of holes. Air rivetter doesnt use much , unless you can find the rivet, pull the trigger and wiggle the stump out and find another rivet in 5 seconds.
