CrisisWolf Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 After a quick rack for my WF SEIW. If someone has one, can point me in the right place to buy one and/or let me know how to check what I actually need (to make sure I get the right one to fit my column) that would be great.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Yup, the Rally Design rack is incredibly popular. Essentially though, you want a MK2 Escort fit rack, (Not RS2000). Although the upper steering column has varied over the years, the rack itself has stayed the same. HOWEVER, just 'cause Westfield designed it for the Escort rack doesn't definitively mean that's what you have! It's a kit car, people go there own way. We've only just had a case of this the other week, with someone asking about swapping their rack, only to find they'd got a really expensive, and rebuildable competition rack. So, whilst you've probably got a standard Escort rack of some description, the only way to be sure is to have a look, and as we always suggest, get some photos up, ideally with the nose cone removed, so that the racks casing can be clearly seen. That way, someone might just spot something that's been overlooked... 1

I am this lucky chap In terms of making your steering quicker, someone suggested to me to get some shorter steering arms 1

Wilfman Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Got mine from Peter Lloyd Rallying - appears to be the same as Rally Design and a few quid cheaper.
CrisisWolf Posted June 2, 2017 Author Posted June 2, 2017 So photos taken pre-purchase. Its hmmm video shows about 2.4 turns already. Confirm?.. will upload to youtube and lonk in a sec
Nic Chase (NICO) - Shropshire & Mid-Wales AO Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Do you have wide track front wishbones? If you are not sure can you post a picture to help us identify.
Nic Chase (NICO) - Shropshire & Mid-Wales AO Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Then it looks unlikely you have a 2.4 quick rack. You probably have a normal rack with lockstops. They stop the cycle wings hitting the bodywork by restricting the amount a travel of the rack.
John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I have a Rally Design 2.4 heavy duty rack. No lock stops so it would be 2.2 with them fitted. Took it off my Westie as it was a bit heavy for my tennis elbow. Let me know if you are interested.
CrisisWolf Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 Heavy duty? Whats the differende between that and he 2.4 rally design 'typical' one as per: http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=7310
