Swiss motorway pass (Vignette)

Hi all

Off in a few weeks time to the Alps - someone has mentioned a Motorway pass

Not intentially planning on going on the motorways but you can gaurantee at some point we will end up on one

Are these a must have?

I got fined for not having one at a peage.  The fine means that you effectively pay twice the cost of the vignette which back then (approx. 10 years ago) cost me I think £40 rather than £20 had I bought one.  The fine includes a vignette

Like you I didn't expect to go on a  motorway but sometimes it is hard to avoid if you follow satnavs

I was in the Westfield and tried to argue that there was nowhere to properly stick it and I lost it ...

In Italy westfields are lower than their motorway barriers.

It is easier to do a spin and reverse into French peage and a J turn on exit rather than unbuckle etc but the Gendarmes near Rouen didn't approve ..

Will assume your going through Swiss Alps. If so you will need vigenete a bit like our road tax, for the motorways. You can get them online or before you enter the country or at the border crossing.

Is that it? at least tell us where you going?

You only need one, for the vehicle. The irritation if you get a new or nearly new hire car, is that the pass last for a year, and isn't transferable, so if you buy one it is there for all the future hirers of that vehicle for the next 12 months, and costs them nothing. It is 40 euros now.

No m8 - in the TVR for this trip (although I had thought about surprising the other folk that are going)

Dick and James also going (have a westfield) but are taking the Z4

Tony (ex Westy owner) in the Jag ZK and Terry (Locost owner) also going
