Davemk1 Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I thought some members might get a kick out of this photo. I compete in SCCA Solo (i.e. autocross) here in the USA and it seems rare that I end up with a good photo of my driving....so when a good one pops up I feel compelled to share. Solo, or autocross, is a timed event held in a big parking lot where traffic cones are used to define a course. One driver at a time drives the course as quickly as they can and their best time of the day is the only one that counts. Typically a course is about 60ish seconds long and we take 8-10 runs in a day. Top speeds for the fastest cars are in the 65mph range. on smaller lots and about 80 mph on larger lots. Here I'm doing my best to rip those wide Avons off the rims and pulling hard out of the corner. Man is that fun. dave 8 Quote

Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Any idea of how many g's you can pull on those sticky tyres? I've recorded 1.4 using track addict on an IPhone 6, but don't know how accurate it is! That was on R888's. Quote
tisme Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 That's an impressive shot - looks great fun and those Avons must have been pretty sticky I love the background as well ! Quote

I know it's enough to make my neck sore after a day of Solo! dave 1 Quote

Not very effective I must say! They work perfectly when using my normal 15" street wheels and tires. It's funny - the SCCA rules say there must be a front fender and that it must cover at least 1/2 the tire. I suspect many have done what I did.....run a normal tire on the street and some silly slicks when driving Solo. dave 3 Quote
