Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Hello Boys, i'm looking for a bit of advice. I have a couple of short movie clips taken on my camera, they are AVI files, today I tried to play them on my Panasonic smart tv and it said 'file not supported' Going through the help pages on the telly it says mpegs are ok, so how do I convert AVI files to mpeg? I googled it and got loads of free downloads but I'm always a bit wary of these, can anyone reccomend a good converter, preferably free. Please keep it simple, i;m old and not very techy. Quote

Wobblyprop Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I have used Freemake successfully in the past, although now I have a paid for editor. Just be careful when you install it as it will offer to install all sorts of additional rubbish you don't want, if I recall correctly. Steve. Quote

CraigHew Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 I know you're sorted but Format Factory (free and well supported) converts between most known file types, video, audio and others. used it weekly now for a few years from short Gopro clips to 3GB plus movies. Quote
