snowy892 Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Unfortunately my Westfield FAILED its MOT. The Lambda readings were too high. I've looked on the internet at prices and there's a huge different in price.... can anyone direct me where to buy one from and which make. Many thanks. Quote
Kingster Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 A Lambda sensor might not help. Depends if your ECU is set to used "closed loop" or not. If not, all the sensor does is tell you the AFR. If it's out then the map needs adjusting. What set up do you have? Quote
Andy Dawson Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 As a matter of interest have you noticed your idle becoming a bit less smooth up to this fail? The guy I bought my Duratec from said he had to change the Lambda to sort the idle out and get it through MOT Quote
snowy892 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 The car has been running perfectly including the idle. Quote
TableLeg Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Do you know if you have a narrowband or wideband sensor currently fitted? What ECU do you have? Quote
TableLeg Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Check the number of wires on the lambda as they can vary, then I'd suggest trying the likes of eBay to find a match. Failing that see if it has any part numbers on it. Quote
Terryathome Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Would this be any help to you? http://www.lambdasensor.com/main/mindex.htm Quote
snowy892 Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Thanks for the reply guys, hopefully sourced the correct sensor through Burton Power. Fitting tomorrow and MOT retest....... Quote

Michael Whitworth Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 A fail on Lambda does not instantly mean the lambda sensor isn't working. It would be more useful if you were to post your emissions readings for starters then Maybe take a reading from the sensor itself using a voltmeter. This would give a better idea whether its the sensor or an engine/system fault. Quote
snowy892 Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Thank you Michael, I did read that earlier, however just purchased the sensor that's the next step. But I will bear in mind if the readings remain the same. If the readings are the same does that mean adjusting the engine management system? Quote

Depends what the readings are. I am not familiar with Alpha Pro 4 and I am not proficient on other custom management systems but the general principles will be the same. The performance/integrity of all relevant mechanical and electrical components will need to be confirmed before adjusting the management system particularly if nothing has been changed since last years emissions test.
